TIME FOR PLAN B

One again, it’s been another chaotic week however I’ve found time to get my thoughts together.  I am sleeping well and that’s a big bonus.  I get a daily walk with Monty which blows the cobwebs away and I’m cooking myself decent suppers.  But what of Leaf?

NOTHING LIKE A GOOD NIGHT’S SLEEP

The 45-minute, masked, no touching and overlooked visits continue.  They are completely dehumanising and I can’t help being concerned that Leaf, whose understanding of the situation is limited, must think I have some hand in this simply by accepting the conditions.  Three visits like that and then I received a phone call from the psychologist saying that, in future, I can only visit once a week.  Well, that did it!

As a result, Plan B is full steam ahead.  Much of my time is taken up with organising the details.  The main hurdle is getting the gerontologist to agree.  Hopefully I will be seeing her tomorrow.   What Plan B actually is I will, if it can go ahead, reveal next week.  I’m not being evasive but as it has yet to be finalised it would be premature to go into detail.

TEAMWORK – PART OF THE PLAN

The new once a week rule, I would not be surprised to discover, is another step towards no visits at all and we all know what that meant for thousands of elderly people shut away in their rooms in retirement homes last time around.  Horrendous and deeply, deeply cruel to them and their families.  No wonder so many died.  Words fail me.  The thought that this could become the case for Leaf is too terrible to bear and I will fight.  To think of him incarcerated and beyond the reach of love and affection appals me.  Even though, from a medical point of view, he is well cared for, that is simply not enough.

A TRIBUTE TO ALL THOSE WHO DIED ALONE

I need to get him out of that depressing atmosphere as soon as possible.

It is striking how miserable all the inmates appear to be.  Leaf is trying to make the best of it although it’s clearly a gaol sentence for him.  I’ve noticed that he’s able to speak clearly and on subject for the first half of a sentence, then he goes off at a tangent into weirdness.  The British army and a lot of screaming kids invaded the ward a couple of phone calls ago and he’s made friends with an imaginary German.  Today he was having to deal with a class of unruly students.

UNRULY STUDENTS

It’s remarkable how he copes with the behaviour of the other inmates, from the stroppy man who shouts and stamps his feet if he doesn’t want to do something to the old lady who interrupted our last visit and proceeded to take her knickers down. Make of that what you will.  I went for a nurse.  When I entered the main sitting area in the ward, several nurses nearly had conniptions!  I took no notice and just told them it might be a good idea to take the lady to the loo before she performed on the floor.  Rather more important than driving a masked woman away!  Leaf was unperturbed by the whole event although he does get cross with another woman who is always trying to touch him up.

I’m getting very concerned that the Covid thing will drag on and on and that any return to a normal life recedes into the past with every day.  Although I have abandoned mainstream media, I still catch the headlines and they make my blood boil.  The tissue of lies, confusion and contradiction continues and the collateral damage is reaching catastrophic proportions.  People delight in calling those who questions any of it conspiracy theorists but they would do well to carefully ‘watch this space’.

WHEN OUR BACKS ARE AGAINST THE WALL WE OFTEN CANNOT SEE THE WRITING ON IT! (thank you Roger!)

As to the US election.  Quite simply, those who are Biden supporters will say he won fairly and squarely, whilst Trump followers will say there’s been fraud.  Who knows?  But it seems Trump is not allowed to say his piece, whether we agree or not isn’t the issue.  Freedom of speech?  No longer.  It’s rather pointless arguing about it.  Good presidents are rare and, if they go against the plans of the ‘boys behind the scenes’, they can be dealt with, not that many of them do, of course.  Puppets often get into office, Reagan and Baby Bush are prime examples.  What’s in store for us is in plain sight on the WEF website but we must read between the lines – if we’re interested enough in the future that is.  This is, as far as I’m concerned, highly relevant to the situation Leaf and I find ourselves in.  Not a situation that was planned but brought about because mainly of Covid restrictions.

Leaf and I are in our last quarters.  We are both very grateful for the fullness of the lives we have led and are determined, as far as possible, to be together when we depart which we hope will be with a good taste in our mouths not a nasty one.

    1. Dearest Gin, You are such a loving ally. You absolutely get it. Thank you for truly understanding what is needed, not just for Leaf and I but for all those who are suffering horrendously through this wretched business. xxxxxxx

  1. Lack of regular contact for you and Leaf must be frustrating and heartbreaking. Both of you are separated by a silent enemy which can only continue – hopefully this recently announced vaccine may help us see the end of the tunnel.

    1. Hello Anne. You’re right, the separation is bad for both of us in every possible way.
I hold out little hope for a properly tested vaccine – they usually take between 5 and 10 years to test, no wonder the pharmaceutical companies will be absolved of any serious health issues as a result. No-one can take them to court no matter what damage might be done. We prefer to wait.
I hope you are all well and Eileen too.
